چکیده

Abtract: Recently, a new proximal anastomosis device of a saphenous vein graft (SVG) to the aorta, the PAS-Port device (Cardica, Redwood City, Calif) has been introduced and yielded encouraging results in terms of neurologic complications and early patency.1,2 However, there is a concern about the midterm (at least 1 year after surgical intervention) patency rate. The aim of this study was to evaluate the midterm patency rate of SVGs whose

Impact of endoscopic versus open saphenous vein harvest techniques on outcomes after coronary artery bypass grafting.

BACKGROUND Endoscopic saphenous vein harvest (EVH) decreases leg wound infections and improves cosmesis after coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG). Recent data, however, suggest that EVH may be associated with reduced graft patency rates. The objective of this study is to assess the effect of EVH on short-term and midterm outcomes after CABG. METHODS Data were prospectively collected on all...

A case of ostial stenosis with the PAS-Port proximal anastomosis system in off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting.

The use of an automatic aortic connector device for proximal saphenous vein graft anastomoses eliminates the need for aortic clamping during off-pump coronary artery bypass grafting and may reduce the incidence of stroke in the elderly and in patients with severe aortic atherosclerosis. The PAS-Port proximal anastomotic system is a recently developed sutureless automatic saphenous vein graft an...

Twelve-month patency with the PAS-port proximal connector device: a single center prospective randomized trial. Invited commentary.

BACKGROUND The PAS-Port (Cardica Inc, Redwood City, CA) is an automated system that allows for the clampless anastomosis of vein grafts to the aorta. The intent of this study was to prospectively compare one year graft patency of this system with conventional hand-sewn anastomoses in a prospective, randomized trial. METHODS A total of 99 patients undergoing elective off-pump coronary bypass s...

Evaluation of the PAS-Port Proximal Anastomosis System in coronary artery bypass surgery (the EPIC trial).

OBJECTIVE During coronary surgery, proximal vein graft anastomoses have been performed by using an aortic partial occlusion clamp to allow for a hand-sewn anastomosis. The purpose of this multicenter, prospective, randomized trial was to evaluate the efficacy of the PAS-Port device (Cardica, Inc, Redwood City, Calif), which allows an automated proximal anastomosis to be performed without aortic...

Radial artery versus saphenous vein patency randomized trial: five-year angiographic follow-up.

BACKGROUND Graft patency is a fundamental predictor of long-term survival after coronary artery bypass surgery. Left and right internal thoracic artery (arterial) graft patency has been shown to be superior to that of saphenous vein grafts. More recently, the radial artery has been used as an aortocoronary graft, but little is known about the midterm and long-term patency of this conduit. We pe...
